Editorial vs Advertising in The Rudd
How we keep things clear for readers and local businesses

What is editorial?
Editorial is our community content. It includes village news, events, Parish Council updates and stories from local groups, clubs and charities.
-
It isn’t paid for
-
It must be factual and community-focused
-
It doesn’t promote commercial businesses

Think of editorial as: “What’s happening in Ruddington?”

What is advertising?
Advertising is paid space used to promote a business, service, offer or commercial activity.
-
You pay for the space
-
You control the message
-
It’s how you reach 4000+ local households
-
It helps keep The Rudd free for residents

Think of advertising as: “Here’s how we can help you.”

Why we keep them separate
Keeping editorial and advertising clearly separate means:
-
Residents can trust our news
-
Businesses get clear, visible promotion
-
Community pages stay fair and unbiased

Not sure where your content fits?
If your content is mainly:
-
Community news or an event → it may be editorial
-
Promoting a business, offer or service → it’s advertising

If you’re unsure, just ask – we’re happy to help you find the best option.
Support for local businesses
